Ana Duarte Mccarthy

Ana Duarte McCarthy is Managing Director and Chief Diversity Officer, Citi. Appointed to the role in 2002, Ana is responsible for the development and integration of Citi’s global workforce diversity strategy for hiring and developing diverse talent, fostering an inclusive work environment and ensuring management accountability.
Since assuming the role, Ana has established a framework of policy and practices that have advanced Citi’s recognition as a top company for diversity and inclusion. Among her accomplishments, Ana led teams that designed and launched Citi’s flexible work strategies and leadership development initiatives for women and initiated Citi’s employee network program, now spanning more than 100 networks globally. Ana joined Citi in 1995. Her previous roles at Citi have been within global diversity, including Vice President, Diversity Management, Citibank and Director of Diversity, Global Consumer Group.
Before coming to Citi, Ana held leadership positions within educational opportunity and higher education at Passaic County College and the new School for Social Research. Ana left the New School in 1994 when she joined Kidder, Peabody, Inc. as Assistant Vice President of Compliance and Diversity Programs.
Ana received her bachelor of arts degree in biology from Lafayette College and a master of education degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University.
Ana serves on the member of the board of directors of the Families and Work Institute, the PhD Project and the Somerset Hills YMCA as well as the Center for Talent Innovation’s task force. Ana is a frequent speaker on diversity and inclusion and has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Among other recognitions, Ana has been named to Hispanic Business Magazine’s 25 Elite Women and received Out & Equal Workplace Advocates’ Champion Award for her support and advocacy of workplace equality for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and in 2015, the Corporate Leader Award from Girls Inc of NYC.
