My Luu

My Luu is Program Director of Global Innovation, Solutions and Policy for the IBM Accessibility, which provides solutions to address the needs of those with disabilities, low literacy, and/or cognitive challenges as well as those in the aging population.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Luu was a Market Development Executive leading emerging markets for IBM’s Global Women Initiative, which helps women business owners gain access to affordable technology to launch and grow their business. Concurrently, Ms. Luu led the strategy for IBM’s Base of the Pyramid Initiative, which leveraged technological innovations to address the needs of the 4 billion people who each earn less than $5 a day.
Before joining IBM in 1999, Ms. Luu was a diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan covering foreign affairs, economic development, and ethnic conflict, and before that, a public relations manager at Motorola.
In the community, Ms. Luu is President of the Yale Alumni Association of New York, which organizes and/or co-sponsors 80+ programs a year, of which more than 40 provide public service or address social justice.
A Chinese-American born in Vietnam, Ms. Luu lived for 13 months at a refugee camp in Malaysia before immigrating to the U.S. in 1980. Ms. Luu has completed 8 marathons – one each in Alaska, Australia, Bhutan, Brazil, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand and Tanzania -- and has registered for a marathon in Antarctica as part of her goal to complete a marathon on all 7 continents. She holds an M.B.A. from Cornell University and a B.A. from Yale College. Ms. Luu has lived, worked, and/or traveled in more than 45 countries and speaks Chinese (Cantonese), Spanish and Russian.
