Yan Wang

Yan Wang is a pioneering scholar, investor and an outstanding entrepreneur focusing on Fintech. She is the Co-Founder of MobiPayor Financial Technology Inc., a leading NFC mobile payment company in China, and an investment fund. She has also worked as a Consultant at Accenture and studied at Central Banking and Financial Markets (CBFM) track in the Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) in New York City. As an MPA candidate, she was selected by her peers to be the first Chinese student in SIPA’s history to serve as an Executive Board member of the General Secretary and proudly served as an ambassador of the school. Representing Columbia University, Yan was also selected to the first cohort of the Emerging Global Leaders (EGL) program of Impact leadership 21, and participated in Impact Investing Venture Lab designed for Top 20 Business Schools in the US. In her spare time while studying she supported Kidogo, an early-childhood education social enterprise, by designing market-entry strategies that helped disadvantaged Kenyan women care for their children. Before Columbia, Yan worked for the Wenchuan Earthquake Policy Responses Action Group & Risk Management Research Institute established by the National Disaster Reduction Center and Ministry of Civil Affairs of P.R. China, recruiting and training domestic and foreign volunteers to attend earthquake relief activities. Due to her efforts organizing volunteers in five victim camps, she was recognized at the Hong Kong Special Music Group’s Women’s International Film & Television Showcase with the Hollywood Humanitarian Award. Yan has also been awarded the Outstanding College Student award by the Education Department of Sichuan’s Provincial Government, the outstanding Youth Volunteers Award issued by the Chinese Government, and was an ambassador to the World Expo in Shanghai, China.
